The Research and Information Unit at the College of Physical Education for Boys is considered the scientific radiation center that spreads the light of science, computer culture, and information technology among the students of the college at home, and makes all of this accessible to all members of the local community outside the walls of the college. It was comprehensively developed in 2002, when the college was linked With the Internet, the first steps were made to make the college electronic, as the unit’s headquarters was moved to accommodate five halls with 70 devices connected to an internal network and connected to an Internet line with a speed of 1 megabyte, in addition to the main line linked to the University of Alexandria.
The main objective of its establishment was to serve scientific and applied research in the fields of physical education and sports, and to contribute to raising the level of physical education and sports through the use of material and human capabilities.
The Sports Research and Information Unit began its activity on 7/28/1992. This goal was translated into a number of sub-goals, the most important of which were:
-Creating and managing scientific, administrative and technical databases on the computer in the fields of physical education and sports, operating them and providing information to individuals and bodies inside and outside Egypt.
-Assisting graduate students and faculty members in solving scientific and applied problems using the computer, including conducting statistical processing, writing, printing, holding courses, manufacturing measuring instruments, and other services that can be provided to researchers.
– Providing technical consultations in the fields of physical education and sports, organization and management, and providing technical and administrative assistance to bodies working in the field inside and outside Egypt. With the great development that the college witnessed at the beginning of the third millennium, the unit achieved a huge leap forward to become a scientific radiation center that spreads the light of science, computer culture, and information technology. Among the students of the college at home, and making all of this easily available to all members of the local community outside the walls of the college, it was comprehensively developed in 2002, when the college was connected to the Internet to take the first steps to make the college electronic, as the unit’s headquarters was moved to accommodate five halls containing 70 devices connected to an internal network and connected to a line.
